Does anyone know where I could get a 5% return ( looked at Jersey, HSBC are offering 4.8 ) on 250k stirling ( no pound sign on this keyboard in Pattaya ) because if I could possibly get this rate I could sell my house in UK and get 10000baht a week, enough to live on in Thailand or other parts of Asia but not sure about if it's enough in Pattaya :o

First Direct UK offer 4.75% on internet account, ING etc also have some good rates i believe.

Go to this website, select offshore savings and put in 250K as the amount.. Lots to choose from!

Depends whether you want interest payable monthly, fixed term, 7 day notice etc. etc!

Interest rates have just gone up so 5% should be everywhere later this month. Try Halifax WebSaver.

Other solution : OCBC in Singapore.

On GBP time deposits, you can get for 250 K from 4.54 to 4.85 % with different tenure.

But... with no tax whatsoever. So it's nett.

Why isn't interest from www.nationwideinternational.com taxable?

Try comparing rates on fool.co.uk

Britannia International: Isle of Man: offer 5% on 250K GBP this should rise to 5.25% on December 1st 2006.

They also offer 5.25% on regular savings. Link below.

250K @ 5% should give you about 1000 GPB a month or B17500 a week

hbos international offer 5.65% on a 12 month fixed rate deposit account .

you need to be registered as tax exempt ( be able to show residence outside the eu) to get the interest tax free.

Irish nationwide Isle Of Man pays 5.4% on a one year fixed term deposit.

This will probably rise soon.
