I just read a report in the BKP (headed "GT200 back to haunt Thailand") which contains some astonishing details on this long-hushed-up scam, which saw 1,358 totally useless bomb detectors bought for 1.4 BILLION Baht, with only 400 million baht going to the sellers and the rest disappearing to two Thai company "middlemen". That's GBP 20 million quid or thereabouts in taxpayers' money just paid to two companies to buy worthless, already-overpriced security equipment.

If it gets properly investigated and the full extent of this scam is exposed, with prosecutions to follow, by the present government I'll be astonished, but I hope so; they're anti-corruption, right?
