I would like to know if it is possible to request a Non-o-Visa here in Thailand. I'm retired and are married to a Thaiwoman, we also have an adopted son.

I was told that it may be possible, actually I'm here on a 1 year Non-o B Visa.

Can somebody help me with some information ?

Thanks

Erich

Yes you can obtain an O visa in Thailand

If you are over 50 and have the means to obtain the retirement visa, the immigration will issue you a 3 month O visa for reason of retirement. Then you can request the retirement visa.

You can change another type of visa to non immigrant but you already have that so it is not required if you want to extend your stay. You can change to married one year extension of stay with 40k family income (with 3 months proof) or retirement with (3 month old) 800k bank account/and/or/combination 65k monthly income. Both are done at your immigration office but retirement can be approved immediately.

Since you are already here on a non-immigrant visa, i.e. a non-B visa, you do not need to apply for a change of visa. If it is an annual extension of stay you want, this is what you apply for (form TM.7)

Over 50 years old, married to a Thai, adopted Thai child – this gives you three options to apply for extension under Police Order 606/2006:

7.17(5): father of adopted Thai child. No proof of income or money in bank required.

7.17(6): married to Thai. Proof of family income of minimum 40,000 Baht per month required.

7.21: retirement. Proof of monthly income of minimum 65,000 Baht or money in Bank minimum 800,000 Baht required.

Take your pick.
