Bronchoscopy in BKK - costs, where?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know roughly how much a bronchoscopy costs & or have had this procedure at a hospital in BKK? Is this done as an Inpatient & would health insurance cover this if you have IPD coverage?

Most insurance policies would cover this even if done as an outpatient as it would then be treated as an outpatient surgery.

Cost will vary greatly by hospital. My best guess is about 50K at a for profit private hospital if done as a day procedure.... but that's just a guess. There will be costs on top of this for biopsy if any tissue removed.

I'm confused, why would an outpatient surgery get covered by a health insurance policy that only has inpatient cover?

Most inpatient only policies also cober day surgeries. They do this because it is cheaper than paying for the patient to be admitted for 1 night for the same procedure which is what would otherwise usually happen if coverage required overnight admission.

Check your policy. BUPA Thailand inpatient policies definitely cover day surgery. So do all other policies I am familiar with.
