Thailand prepared to accommodate Aung San Suu Kyi’s visit

BANGKOK, 23 June 2016 (NNT) – Police and security agencies are prepared to accommodate the visit of Myanmar’s stateswoman Aung San Suu Kyi on 23-25 June 2016, says spokesman.

The Royal Thai Police Deputy Spokesman Pol Maj Gen Piyapan Pingmuang has revealed the Royal Thai Police and related security agencies in Thailand will be providing security protection for the official visit of the State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi during 23-25 June 2016.

Suu Kyi is set to be visiting the temporary war refugee center in Baan Tam Hin, Ratchaburi, while security protocols will be heightened in areas with dense Burmese populations to prevent any occurrence of violent situations. However, no signs of unrest were reported.

The police deputy spokesman has added the visit to Thailand by Aung San Suu Kyi will take place in orderly fashion. He stressed that Thailand is not a target for any violence group and is not in conflict with any country.

Wonderful lady, who has achieved so much

Will she be bringing to Thailand, her ideas on democracy, so Thailand can maybe adopt the same principals

In todays Thailand there are many similarites to the old Burma regime, I often wonder; maybe I am incorrect and just a misguided old man

It would be nice to think so. But the current government are hardly likely to be sympathetic.
