Ministries of Transport, Education unveil media mitigating railroad crossing accidents

BANGKOK, 23 June 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Education have joined hands to produce visual media aimed at mitigating accidents at railroad crossings to be distributed to schools nationwide.

The Deputy Minister of Transport Ormsin Chivapruck, and the Advisor to The Deputy Minister of Education Suthat Kanchananonkul, have presided over a safety promotion activity intended to reduce the number of accidents at railroad crossings. The activity included the unveiling of music videos, animation films, cartoon books, signs, and crossing barriers all intended to promote safety awareness of railroad crossings and are to be distributed to schools nationwide.

The Transport Deputy Minister has expressed his confidence in the campaign and its effectiveness in raising safety awareness among children and parents, as well as the awareness of road usage discipline.

The safety promotion campaign will run in parallel with the installation of automated railroad level crossing barriers, especially in community areas.

In this matter, the Advisor to The Deputy Minister of Education has revealed that this campaign will complement the classroom time reduction campaign, and the Ministry of Education will be distributing these promotional media to schools and education institutes nationwide to extend the target audience to parents and the general public in various communities.

Are they going to "hand out" motorbike licenses also? I'd bet a high percentage of these students - and most of their parents - have never taken a legitimate test... if the students are in fact legally old enough.

Enforcement of ALL traffic laws etc. would be a great educational tool; provided there are consequences for breaking said laws. But.... lol lol lol in the Land of Scams/ Lack of Sanctions... I won't hold my breath for this to happen.

Corruption breeds mediocrity.

The Deputy Transport minister has expressed his confidence in the effectiveness of the campaign so this will succeed where every other safety and discipline campaign has failed ?
