Industrial estate to apologise residents for causing flood in their communities

BANGKOK: -- Bangpoo industrial estate is to apologize residents living around the estate about flooding in their communities which was partially caused by excess water drained out of the estate.

The estate director, Mr Prateep Engchuan, admitted Thursday that rain water drained out of the estate caused flooding in City Village and Poonsap communities, affecting residents there.

He, however, said that officials from the industrial estate would meet with the affected residents this afternoon to express regret on behalf of the management and would try to help drain water out of their communities as quick as possible.

Heavy rains in the past few days caused flooding in the estate forcing 15 factories to suspend operations on Wednesday. The situation has returned to normal today (Thursday) and factories in the estate have resumed operations after estate officials used water pumps to drain water out of the estate.

Mr Prateep said the estate would seek advice from a consulting firm to map out a long-term plan to cope with flood problem after two floods this year despite the fact that more rains are yet to come predictably in August and September when there is a real risk of more serious flooding from a combination of rains, high tide and water runoffs from the north.

Third world and always will be. Corruption rules ok!

These people do not seem to realize the more concrete you pour, and building/roadways you build, the more water run off, thus flooding you will have. If they would include some proper drainage canals in the master plans

and they were built to transport rainwater/drainage to areas where the release

of the flow would not affect others, it would help.

In many arears the water flowing out of industrial estates goes into residential

areas whose drains are hard pressed to handle runoff from that moo ban but are not able nor designed to handle the extra runoff.

just about sums it up, "oops sorry we flooded you out, tough s***, so that's ok then,until next week, same same.

Nothing personal, it's just business............

Saying sorry is fine and good. But will they be sorry enough to pay for any damages incurred? Probably not.

so what about compensation for the damage or does saying sorry mean they dont have to pay any.

" I'm sorry" is cheap, but never fixes anything.

How about some money to repair the damages?

Got good news and bad news good news I'm sorry bad news your SOL on getting any money out of me.

If you build in a marsh you need to expet to get flooded from time to time.

Bangoo Industrial Estate was there long before most of the surrounding residential which built up around it from the jobs etc it created.
