1 Year multi entry visa

Featured Replies

I am soon going to start on a journey that could lead me to stay in Thailand for a number of Months at a time . My first visit is going to be from November until March (actually over 90 days) and then return to the UK and then potentially visit Thailand again from August till October .

At this moment I am looking at Visa types and wondered whether my best option to start with was a Non-Immigrant O visa for 1 year with multiple entries.

The other question is on the form is requests the number of entries - does this have to be specific, as in certain circumstances I could require anywhere from to 5 - 8 entries.

Any guidance assistance would be appreciated.

I am married to a Thai and therefore would look to progress this 1 year visa to an eventual marriage Visa - again am I taking the best option here ??

regards

Richard

A multiple entry non-o visa would be a the best option. It will allow unlimited 90 day entries for a year.

When you complete the application form you write multiple instead of the number of entries. The space is for the number of entries the visa will allow not the number of entries you expect to do.

If you decide later to apply for a one year extension of stay you can apply for it during the last 30 days of any of the 90 day entries the visa allows.

As stated, get a Non Imm O multiple entry visa based on marriage. Each stay of 90 days can easily be extended for an additional 60-days, if desired, on payment of 1,900 baht at the local immigration office.

Anytime you are staying over 90 days you can do a out/in border hop to get a new 90 days OR get a 60 day extension of stay (to visit your wife) from your local immigration office for 1,900 baht. 60 day extensions are available once per entry.

Thanks all for you assistance it is much appreciated

After struggling with many years with UK Visa for my Thai wife to be in the UK and now find I am going in the opposite direction

So I would much appreciate if you can bear with me here

in the sections

Purpose of Visit - There is not reason I can not say ' To stay at my house that I have in Thailand' - even though technically its my Wife's - built by me - or should I just state my 'Wife and mine!'

For Departing travelling - Is this section for if I am travelling to Thailand then moving on to other countries ??

If so My length of time I am intending to go on my first visit is 3 months 11 days - which will probably include as stated in a previous response that I will require some sort of 'Visa Run'

Potentially I am looking to travel to Vietnam for 1 week during the 101 day period - doe this have to be mentioned in this section

your assistance and 'tap into your knowledge ' always appreciated

hope you can help

regards

Richard

Purpose: To visit my Thai wife or to live with her.

Departing: Your departure date from the UK.

Length of stay would be 90 days since that is what the visa allows when you enter the country.

You will either have to apply for a 60 day extension or do a border run for a new 90 day entry If you are staying longer than 90 days.

Thanks again

Just to be clear - the section I was not clear in filling in is displayed attached on the right side of the form

It states

For Departure travelling

By:

To (Country beyond Thailand) :

What needs to be placed in here or is it for backpacker's etc who might use Thailand as a transit stop

Put that you're travelling by air to Vietnam. It's not important or binding as peoples plans change.

Now I am looking at completing the form -  I get conflicting information about applying for the visa

Non- immigrant O 1 Year based on a Wife

Some sites just state

Marriage Certificate , Spouses ID and Passport and proof of earnings

Where the thai embassy site states  -   medical certificates and CRB

Also it states you have to fill in 3 copies of the application form !!

If this has to be done for a Wife Non-immigrant O multi visit Visa , I am not sure I want to go through all this this time  as my intention is only to got for 110 days Nov-Mar and then later in the Year aug - oct

Guidance and assistance always appreciated

What Thai embassy site?

  • You don't need proof of earnings, medical certificate, CRB or 3 copies.

I think you mixing up a non-o visa and a OA visa.

From this page on London embassy website. http://thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/49

Note I have scratched out an error on the website. They will do one with no financial proof.

Quote

Non-Immigrant Type O

Certificate of Marriage or its equivalents (if married to Thai national)
a copy of marriage certificate,a copy of Thai passport/a copy of Thai ID of spouse and (3 months bank statement showing monthly income of more than £1,400 anuually.)

Excuse my ignorance

will Type O visa satisfy my requirements  for staying over 3 months  (110 days)  in Thailand , or do I require an O-A long stay visa    ??

regards

Richard

When you enter with a non 'O' you'll be granted permission to stay for 90 days. Towards the end of the 90 days you could apply for a 60 day extension of stay to visit your wife. You apply for the extension of stay at your local immigration office which costs 1,900 baht.

If you enter with a non 'O-A' you would get permission to stay for 1 year.

If you get a single entry non-o visa and apply for a one year extension of stay based upon marriage you could easily stay for 110 days.

If you apply for a multiple entry non-o visa it would allow unlimited 90 day entries for a year. You could extend any entry for 60 days to visit your wife.

A OA visa allows unlimited one year entries for a year from the date of issue. It can be stretched to a total stay of about 2 years by getting a new one year entry just before it expires and getting a re-entry permit to keep that last entry valid if you want to travel. Requirements are here on the embassy website http://thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/51
