As the tourists stay away more Thai nationals are becoming victims of crime

PATTAYA: -- In the early hours of June 29 police at the Nongprue Division were alerted to a robbery in progress in front of the Paradise Hill Village in Banglamung.

Rushing to the scene officers found thirty-three year old Tasaorn Koomjoho and twenty-nine year old Napaporn Worabut, who both said they are street food vendors, shaking in fear and waiting to make statements. They claim that two motorcycles pulled up alongside them as they were on their way home and the riders, young Thai men, produced guns and threatened them.

They were forced to hand over 10,000 baht in cash and cell phones valued at 15,000 baht.

Young Thai criminals are into equal opportunity robbery...they would prefer to find a lone drunk foreigner trying to make their way home after a night of drinking...but will settle for unsuspecting Thai women...both are easy targets for these cowards...lady-boys are bad about doing the same...

As tourists stay away? I thought there were yearly double digit % increases.

according to TAT this is another record year with tourism numbers again going through the roof and being smashed.

The person who suggested that tourists stay away could be in serious trouble. It is a very serious offence to tell the truth and to tarnish Thailand's reputation. I can see TAT applying for an arrest warrant.

As the tourists stay away

Is that true? I hear only from raising tourist numbers

indeed the numbers are actually rising strongly.

but the many Chinese tourists stay in their rooms after darkness, and the majority of Thai robbers are not daring enough during daylight hours
