Army and police to cope with possible underground political movements

Army and police officials had a meeting to prepare for hidden political movements.

The First Regional Army Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Maj. Gen. Chai Kamwongsa (ชาย คำวงษา), and the Internal Security Operations Command Deputy Director, Maj. Gen. Yuwanut Suriyakul Na Ayutthaya (ยุวณัฐ สุริยะกุล ณ อยุธยา), along with more than 10 intelligence military officers held a meeting with the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Pol. Lt. Gen. Wiroj Chantarangsi (วิโรจน์ จันทรังษี).

The First Regional Army intelligence units disclosed the situation in Bangkok made an assessment of the circumstances in order to prepare for the possible movement from the group of people who oppose the seizure of Pol. Lt. Col. Thaksin Shinawatra’s state administration and the operation of the Council for National Security.

The meeting reached a conclusion that police and army officials will cooperate in maintaining peace following the streams of news that the opposing group may congregate while Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont will attend the APEC Vietnam 2006 from November 17th to 19th.
