Cambodians arrested for using other people's passports

ARANYAPRATHET: -- Immigration swooped on a minivan travelling to Bangkok and arrested 12 Cambodians and a Thai man.

The Cambodians were travelling on passports that did not belong to them, reported tnamcot.

Immigration said that the group were part of an illegal operation coming out of Rong Klua, Aranyaprathet in Sa Kaew province.

Those arrested were on their way to work illegally in Bangkok.

They were nabbed as they travelled south on route 359.

A van along with Cambodian passports and border passes were taken into evidence.
Immigration said that pictures in the passports did not match the faces of the people in the van and they had entered Thailand illegally.

The driver of the group is a Thai named as Thaworn Phannet.

All were detained pending prosecution.

Can only assume that they let this crew through with dodgy passports so that they could grab the Thai connection. As recommended in TVF many times.

Crazy... If immigration did such a good job then how the hell did 12 Cambodians get on Highway 359 without stamping into Thailand at the immigration? Praise them when they shutdown the smuggling route that operates from the back way (less than 300 meters from Thai immigration) which is open 24/7.
