Counterfeiter Caught with Meth

Featured Replies

A man was arrested in Battambang yesterday afternoon with 10,000 counterfeit US notes after trying to exchange 100 phony bills for riel in Svay Por district’s Moha Tep village. Chey Seng, 43, was also carrying nearly 15 grams of methamphetamine when he was searched by police, Major Duong Sokrith, the Deputy Chief of the provincial Anti-Drug Police Unit, said.

“He took a counterfeit $100 note to exchange for Khmer currency from a money exchange shop in Svay Por commune. He was then arrested by the provincial military police who were stationed nearby after the shop owner complained,” Maj. Sokrith told Khmer Times yesterday.

“After his arrest and a search, military police confiscated a total of six small packages of crystal meth weighing 14.44 grams and other related drug material and 10,000 counterfeit US notes from him,” he added. The jobless Mr. Seng is now in temporary detention at the provincial Anti-Drug Police headquarters. He will be sent to provincial court for questioning after a preliminary police investigation.
