NRSA president vows to take sole responsibility for his deputy’s acts

BANGKOK: -- The National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) has cancelled a briefing session with members of the diplomatic corps and international organizations scheduled on Monday.

Explaining the abrupt cancellation of the session to give members of the diplomatic corps and international organizations about the role of the NRSA, Mr Tinnapan Nakata, the assembly president, said Monday that he had listened to the views of assemblymen about the session and came to the conclusion that scrapping the session would be more beneficial.

He added that he hoped the envoys and representatives of international agencies would understand the NRSA for its decision.

The NRSA president also offered to take sole responsibility for the role of the first vice president, Mr Alongkorn Polaboot, in meetings with representatives of political parties which came under heavy criticism from several assemblymen.

Defending Mr Alongkorn, he said there was no need to set up a panel to probe Mr Alongkorn’s conduct, noting that the vice president did so with good intention although he admitted that he didn’t know all the activities that Mr Alongkorn had been doing.

“We were paid to do what we were supposed to do, didn’t we?” he asked. He said he was ready to take full responsibility and even to go to jail in order to fulfill the NRSA’s responsibilities.

"We were paid to do what we were supposed to do, didn’t we?”

Rhetorical, sarcastic or angry questions are definitely 'Thainess'.

Just call a spade a spade. People might actually begin to 'sincerely' respect you.

He finally understood that the meeting with diplomatic staff was going to be a nightmare and quickly cancelled it :)

"He added that he hoped the envoys and representatives of international agencies would understand the NRSA for its decision."

Unfortunately for Thailand, the representatives of international agencies and governments understand only too well the purpose for all decisions made by this regime.

There's a lot not being said here. What did Alongkorn do that the pres has to take responsibility for? What was the offending conduct? Why was the meeting cancelled?

And what's the dramatic talk of martyrdom and 'going to jail' all about?

One more thing beginning to fall apart methinks, there's a long line of them.

Another joke, Thais trying to get serious about stuff, never works.

It's not only the garbage at Koh Samui that needs to be covered with canvas (as reported on TV at http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/928767-koh-samui-municipality-to-use-canvas-to-cover-garbage/).

Amid this pile of waffle from Thai PBS we're told NRSA president Tinnapan scraps a session with members of the diplomatic corps and international organizations because his fellow assembly members are upset with a deputy because he met with representatives of political parties.

Tinnapan then saw no need to set up a panel to probe the deputy's conduct, noting that it was done with "good intention". How magnanimous!

Thailand really does look like it's on a paved road to hell with this passel of hogs "leading" the way!

Tinnapan also hoped the envoys would understand the NRSA for its decision. Somehow, I don't think he needed to worry about them understanding the NRSA.

The NRSA president also offered to take sole responsibility for the role of the first vice president, Mr Alongkorn Polaboot, in meetings with representatives of political parties which came under heavy criticism from several assemblymen.

Anyone got a link to more about this? Should be interesting if the Public BS don't want to tell us about it.
