Brit Michael Sandford pleads not guilty to Donald Trump 'assassination attempt'
Michael Sandford, 20, allegedly tried to snatch a police officer's gun to shoot the presumptive Republican nominee
BY NATALIE EVANS , DAVID MERCER

LONDON: -- A young British man has pleaded not guilty to attempting to assassinate US presidential hopefuly Donald Trump .

Michael Sandford, 20, allegedly tried to snatch the weapon during a rally at Treasure Island casino in Las Vegas on June 18.

He is said to have told police he travelled to the Nevada city to kill presumptive Republican nominee Trump, court documents show.

Sandford, of Dorking, Surrey, appeared at a federal court in Las Vegas wearing leg irons and a yellow prison uniform with the word "detainee" on the back.

Should just give him the benefit of the doubt. I am sure he meant well.smile.png

Ouch! Pleading Not guilty - maximum penalties at stake. He could be looking at a 30 year stretch.

Should have gone for the insanity defense. I recall reading he has a history of such problems. Being white, young, and British, he has a leg up in the U.S. justice system but I don't think the not guilty plea will wash.

....hmmm....

There was a GUN, but it was not a SMOKING gun, and it also wasn't in the accused possession. Maybe his lawyer can work with that. Best of luck.

It just takes one juror in a jury trial to hang a jury. An insanity defense may have worked to reduce his punishment, but I suppose there is a small chance of walking now.

Damn, give the man a medal and some instructions on how to do it right. He was just trying to do the world a favor.

The ineptness of it is probably where the lawyer is going.

This present US government may pressure the British to let this man go and return him to the US...where he will be given another chance...coffee1.gif

^ He's in the US.

If he really wanted to do it right, why not clobber the cop and then disarm him? I mean, he planned this. Trying to snatch a cops gun is never going to work.

must you show your stupidity and ignorance in public? don't you realize that when people read what you have to say they look at you as a certified nut? I do!
