DSI to discuss Phra Dhammachayo’s surrender conditions with senior abbot

BANGKOK: -- A team of senior officers from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) this afternoon will go to Wat Khienket temple in Pathumthani province to negotiate with the abbot on the surrender of the controversial abbot of Wat Dhammakaya, Phra Dhammachayo.

The DSI team will meet the temple abbot, Phra Thep Rattanasuthi, this afternoon to inquire him the latest development on the surrender of Phra Dhammachayo.

There was rumour that Phra Dhammachayo would turn himself in to the DSI but with one condition that he must be allowed bail.

But this has been made clear by the DSI that granting of bail would not be the authority of the DSI, but the court which has earlier issued warrant for his arrest.

It is still unknown if the negotiation between the Khienket abbot and the DSI team could proceed but the DSI is at the temple already.

Phra Dhammachayo had repeatedly defied the DSI’s order to turn himself in to acknowledge theft, embezzlement, and money laundering charges over the acceptance of several cheques worth up to a billion baht from the former president of Klongchan Credit Union Cooperatives who cheated the saving funds of members, mostly elderly retirees.

all this pussy footing, just arrest the bastard and throw him in jail, time for the thai authorities to stop playing games with these corrupt criminals and do the right thing. Being a monk, wealthy or well named does not give anyone the right to ignore the law and make demands for themselves, this piece of crap should be dragged kicking and screaming if need be to the courts then locked up along with all those that blocked them from doing this already, time for the law to be more important than individuals

Discussing surrender terms with an intermediary ! ? Surrender ? Do the authorities understand how ridiculous this and they look ?

I was about to ask how could this get any more unbelievable then I realised how ridiculous the question would be.
