Ban Thanarak Pracharat housing project to select its developer in 2 weeks

Itiporn Lakarnchua

BANGKOK, 8 July 2016 (NNT) – The government is nearing the end of its bidding process to select a private developer for its Ban Thanarak Pracharat project, which provides low-cost housing.

Director of the Treasury Department Jakkrit Parapantakul revealed that there are currently six companies competing for the contract, including Supalai PCL and Areeya Property PCL.

There are six plots of land allocated for the housing project. Two plots of land are situated in Bangkok, two in Phetchaburi province, one in Chiang Mai province, and one in Chiang Rai province. However, no companies have expressed interest in developing the Chiang Rai property, due to its remote location. Therefore, the terms of reference are for the development and management of the five other plots of land.

An inter-agency committee has been tasked with the selection process and will consider the bidding price, after sales service, value for money, and build quality. The committee is comprised of representatives from the Treasury Department, Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

The committee will reach a decision in two weeks' time, while construction is expected to finish in 2019.

Still working hard in the office sorting out the contract bids.

Takes at least another two weeks to count the brown envelopes. So many of them! One for you, two for your boss, three for me!
