Samut Sakhon sends officers to fight against human trafficking

SAMUT SAKHON, 12 July 2016 (NNT) - Samut Sakhon province has dispatched an anti-human trafficking team of 500 officers and instructed them to immediately take legal action against people who are involved in human trafficking.

Deputy Governor of Samut Sakhon Narongsak Chalermkiat said the problem of human trafficking was of high priority to Samut Sakhon. The province has special teams to combat human trafficking and hiring of illegal alien workers with the use of many relevant laws, said the deputy governor.

The province has set up an operation center on prevention and suppression of human trafficking. All enterprises which hire alien workers are required to abide by immigration laws, proper working conditions for aliens, protection of workers and social security laws.

The deputy governor added that the province’s anti-human trafficking efforts need cooperation from all sectors, including enterprises and the media. Mr. Narongsak then presided over a ceremony to send more than 500 officers and volunteers to search areas susceptible to human trafficking across the province.

Why the need to announce this in advance?

How much budget is involved?

Will we seen any substantial results, arrests, perps named and jail terms?

Why am I asking these questions?

I agree. Hearing/reading all these announcements is getting really "old." I'm repeatedly reminded about the "Boy Who Cried WOLF."
