1 million jobs added in Thailand in 2014-2016: MOL

BANGKOK, 12 July 2016 (NNT) – Thailand is experiencing an increase employment by about 1 million workers during 2014 to June 2016, with an increased revenue of 10 billion baht each month, according to an official from the Ministry of Labour.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Labour, Teerapol Khunmuang, revealed that the current government’s employment promotion strategy has resulted in more employments during the 2014-2016. The Ministry recorded 1,076,218 more employments, generating gross income among new employees by 10,992,802,735 each month. This figure was calculated from the employer’s input of average wages among different occupations.

The government’s effort in promoting employment involves the overhaul to job finding and career matching schemes under the operation of Smart Job Center and Smart Application. The strategy successfully connected employers with their work prospects.

The Ministry of Labour is also urging all related agencies actively surveying for available job vacancies to inform relevant data to the jobseekers, while employers in Thailand are still in demand for approximately 38,000-45,000 new employments each month, especially in May 2016 where 38,806 vacancies were promoted through the Ministry of Labour, marking a 6.05 percent increase in employment demands.

Jobseekers or those who wish to change their employment can contact local employment offices, or call the 1694 hotline to check on the latest employment information.

Seems the author does not know how to use the word employment.

How could the government possibly have accurate records of who's working and who's not if they don't

have unemployment benefits paid to those who doesn't work and thus doesn't register as unapplied?

anyone can pull numbers out of their ass to impress the bosses and the public, in realty, there is no

way to verify those numbers.....

Good news, if it's true.

One would have to wonder as to what the real quality of these jobs is, in a country where slave labour is not unheard of.

Also, how many are immigrant labour from the much poorer neighbouring countries?

The Ministry recorded 1,076,218 more employments, generating gross income among new employees by 10,992,802,735 each month.

How wonderful - an average per capita income of 10,200 baht per month. Those people can only dream about Thailand's middle income trap.

experiencing an increase employment by about 1 million workers during 2014 to June 2016

And yet according to the Labor Ministry in March 2016, the number of unemployed for February increased 25.58% compared to the same period last year or an increase of 7.83% from January. The Ministry’s unemployment rates for April-June period were 1%, 1.2% and 1% respectively. That one million jobs added doesn't seem to made much of an impression. Maybe like Thailand's negative inflation rate, Thailand is now experiencing a negative unemployment rate.

Another statement backed by lies and fickle questionable figures ,but would they lie.

I thought I had seen a few more people hanging around and checking their mobiles in the local mall. Must be part of the new employment boom. Good news all around! thumbsup.gif

is this since euh... the coup ?

good news show ?

so soon there will be a shortage and farangs will be able to work also more easy ? right ?

Have they decided to class the slaves as employees now to make the figures look better?

Seems the author does not know how to use the word employment.

Perhaps he should have employed the word "jobs"?

Spokesman of the Ministry of Labour ... revealed that the current government’s employment promotion strategy has resulted in more employments during the 2014-2016.

Yet another example of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic!

According to figures from the National Statistical Office (http://web.nso.go.th/en/survey/lfs/lfs14_q1.htm), whilst the junta may claim credit for a rise in the number of people in employment, a look at the historical data paints a completely different picture. In fact, the current trend is arguably less than that which prevailed prior to the junta usurping power.

A picture says a 1,000 words, so see for yourself:

One observation, ignoring the propaganda, the regularity of the NSO data seems a bit suspicious.

Of the Thais I know know have ever found a job from any official source so how does the government have the slightest idea when people are or are not employed ?

Very true, and how many people who live here do not pay tax?

Also, even if this is a true number (which I strongly believe it is not) it is still not a nett figure. They make no mention of how many people have actually lost their jobs in this period of economic uncertainty.

I am willing to bet that employment figures have got worse overall, not better, this is the norm for any economy that is struggling.

1 Million jobs added. 2 Million jobs lost

Wow, i am impressed by this chart.... Few straight lines... It looks so optimistic! They just add a down trend to make it looks more real....

Must include all the street beggers and women

With baby in arms scammers.

the bar where i pop into for the last 3 years has 4/5 girls behind the bar , never busy at all, yep room for a couple more lol !!how can this be viable.in the UK this would be one person, oh i know the stupid employ 4 thai personnel rule

Every company keeps books and records. When people are added to the payrolls it is a very simple matter for the government to get a reading and determine accurately how many more people were added to the work force.

funny how this article seems to clash what the NEWS is saying about major companies laying off people.

look online, most jobs available are for white people.

thais get factory work.

know your place i guess.

This figure was calculated from the employer’s input of average wages among different occupations.

So, it's inaccurate BS. Maybe they should be way more specific!

Yep. All security guards at every place of business.

I'm pretty sure that Thailand has been boasting an unemployment figure of 1% for the last several years.

Thailand has 67 million people. If we exclude approximately 15 million kids in schools, that makes 52 million of working age. The 1% unemployed comes to about 520,000 people. Okay.

So one must conclude that either:

1. these figures are an outright lie.

or:

2. the 1 million jobs added include a large percentage of people who now have two jobs.

Either way, what was announced with the intention of providing good news, on closer examination appears not to be so good.

Or they could be lying. Simple as that. They are Thais after all, so whatever they say is going to be iffy at best. personally I think this is just more fictitious members to persuade the People that the governance provided by this illegal junta government constitutes looking after Thailand and Thais, and to convince the international community that in spite of all the evidence to the contrary, they actually know what the doing.

Nice to have the other side not mentioned at all.

a more interesting headline would be,

"The color white is the only color thats white."

meanwhile a list of the companies who have pulled out this last 3 years... anyone?

its nice to know that mall sellers now have 4 assistance to help with arranging merchandise. .

yeah, lets give the jobs for kids to skilled adults. kids should be out drinking and sleeping with their puu yais, that ll stimulate the economy.

do slaves count?
