gnatman
This past year, the US Congress passed a law that calls for the revocation and non renewal of a US passport if you are in arrears on your Federal income taxes. Does anyone know if the State Department has begun to implement this on passport renewals? Link to comment

Shot
I remember this article, and there was a long thread on it. You can do a forum search , but if I remember correctly it was only for those who owe 50k or more. Link to comment
mania
I remember reading about this coming for years now even back in 2012 Also I believe they can refuse renewal if applicant has not paid their child support Link to comment
thaihome
I believe it started in January 2016, but you have to owe over $50k for renewal to be withheld. For child support you have to be in federal database which requires having been subject to a state court order for unpaid child support. TH Edited July 13, 2016 by thaihome Link to comment

GinBoy2
I'm a little aghast that anyone in their right mind doesn't/hasn't filed with the feds. We all know that you need a passport, and even before all this we all knew that not filing a 1040 was an 'issue'. I'm not in anyway defending the IRS (a pseudo criminal extortion racket IMHO), but come on, this shouldn't be a shock to anyone. Link to comment
