BANGKOK: -- Former deputy secretary-general of the National Health Security Office (NHSO) whose promotion as the secretary-general was rejected by the NHSO board is fighting back by taking his case to the Administrative Court.

Dr Prateep Thanakitcharoen told NHSO officials on Tuesday that the board’s resolution against his appointment contravened with Section 31 of the NHSO Act.

He claimed that there were someone inside the NHSO with close links with the powers-that-be attempt to change the direction of the national health security system.

The embattled former deputy secretary said, from now on, he would work closely with the public, health security networks to realize reform in health system and to carry on with the works of Dr Sa-nguan Nittiyarumpong, former secretary-general of NHSO.

Meanwhile, Mr Thanapol Dokkaew, chairman of the kidney sufferers network, said that members of the network and consumer’s network would petition Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha this coming Thursday to seek justice for Dr Prateep.
