Ads on Youtube.com

Featured Replies

Over the last several weeks I've noticed an incredible increase of ads on a high percentage of Youtube clips i've attempted to watch.

Now I don't expect anything for free as the expression goes and I've said for some time, I'd be perfectly willing to pay a monthly fee for ad free viewing of youtube. I think it's worth it.

The problem is how aggressively the ads are appearing. Not long ago, I opened a full length film clip where it was hard to see space between the ads on the movement bar. There were over 40 ads if my memory serve me correctly.

I can understand a 15 or even a 30 second ad but more and more, I'm seeing ads for 2 minutes and longer. These ads are Thailand based and I want to do my best to avoid them.

I use AdBlock for Mac but it doesn't seem to have an effect on these youtube ads. I know it's a cat and mouse game for ad makers and AdBlocker programs.

Have you found an effective way to block ads on youtube and if so please share it with us.

I did say an AdBlocker program so replying "don't watch youtube" is not a fair option in replying. 555

Yes it is, many of those ads are in bloody Thai and even ADblock won't rid you of them. AdblockPLUS seems to deter them though.

Never get any adds on YT, set it to U.K, and English Language and Add Blok +. Perfect, no adds at all. Using BB optic cable.

For sure it is about Thailand or the genius who says it is not about Thailand can advise me where I am as I type this post.

I'll add that all the ads I see are indeed Thailand based and after I started the thread I wondered if I somehow got caught up in a adware/malware kind of thing.

Again, I can handle some 15 or 30 second ads. Two minutes is just not OK. I can handle a subscription for content providers but someone who posts content from others is pretty bold to seek income from their post IMHO.

Yes I do use AdBlockPlus but it doesn't work well on Firefox/Chrome I now need to use to use Firefox more and more to view embedded videos to avoid a split screen.

Thanks for your reply.

Download Super Anti Spyware it good, catches Lazada and all the invasive Thai stuf, you will be shocked at the result. Let us know what you found.

Super Anti Spyware

Won't do anything against Youtube ads.

It catches the Adaware that pops up from Thai Sites,i get none anyway.Plus its good on Pudlocker n Movie D/Loaded stuff. Those redirected things cause the probs imo

Look here and scroll down to Linux and Mac Users.

You mention Mac, but then also Firefox/Chrome. So if you are utilising Windows, just follow the instructions for Windows..

I like the SAS and use it on my all my Windows PCs. Good for malware ,pop-ups and removing cookies. It misses the ads in the videos though.

Not about thailand

Are you too deep in Thailand to make such a nonsense post? There're plenty of adds in Thailand and in Thai.

.OP, there're various free add blockers.

Adblock for Google seems to be fine. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock-for-youtube/cmedhionkhpnakcndndgjdbohmhepckk?hl=en

Lost in thailand ..... do just as your name suggests please and it not thailand related

Of course its Thai related

More interesting is your slant on this and the asinine initial post you made when you said it wasn't Thai related! (In other words in your opinion the OP should be deleted by the Mods)

Your motivation I suspect was to surreptitiously bring it to their attention and have it thus deleted!

Your singularly (IMO) malicious post and this last one above gives you no credit for either explaining why it isnt Thai related or that "Lostinissan" had not made a sensible comment on a subject that most of the reasonable people on here have been experiencing lately

Maybe you could give more information on your opinion that would give your initial absurd one liner post some cred?

The Ads are taking over on Youtube in Thailand to the extent that they are making Youtube and some other sites not really worth watching.

There is obviously a point that most of the normal folk would switch off if this balance is too much in the favour of the Ad makers, or money making site owners.

Internet sites like Youtube and indeed Thaivisa forums need to keep a weather eye on whether they are fast approaching a saturation point that will make their sites unpopular to say the least

So Original Poster,

I think that your post is and was a sensible comment on the state of affairs where the Site owners need to think less of making money by way of "advertisement revenue" on their successful sites and think more about the balance of killing the goose that laid the golden egg and driving people away from these sites

Did the OP get the problem fixed?

A little note would have been great to know if it's solved. But well, this is Thailand......thumbsup.gif
