Open A Shop

Somebody with a 1 year non-immigrant visa comes to thailand for a holiday.

They love it here and want to start a shop.

What is their visa situation?

Can they just find a place to rent, rent it, buy some products, hire some staff and start selling things?

What are they required to do? What do they need to do it? What do people often / usually do?

Once this sort of shop is started, what is the requirement about paying tax and that sort of thing? Paying workers health care and so on...

I would just like somebody to talk to me in easy english.

Is it simple and easy, or must I do the seven tasks of Hercules and have a minimum of tens of thousands of dollars cash up front, thai guarantors, accountants, lawyers ... oh dear!

They need to get a lawyer and form a company.

What are they required to do?

Get a work permit.

What do they need to do it?

Depends on their nationality. They may need a Thai or American partner.

What do people often / usually do?

Go to a lawyer. Don't do anything till you find an advisor you can trust and knows what he is doing.
