ClutchClark
A couple of college kids exercised a moment of indiscretion...hardly the first time in history. Lesson learned. Hardly worth all the attention it has received. I wouldn't be surprised if that one Thai local who was so aggressive does not one day appear in a similar photo seated in front of numerous Police...he most definitely displayed a high level of hostility. Maybe a future tuk-tuk driver?

It looks as though they were given the absolute minimum with respect to the offense (2,000 baht)... but they should still have been deported and banned from re-entering Thailand since it was still a criminal offense I believe. ezzra
There was a time when Thai men will say, You, you, now there's an added bonus with the <deleted> you man over and over again, to me, the vulgarity of the Thai guy is much worse than what those kid did, which is still wrong..... they could have shooed away nicely, not need for more obscenities and profanities..... He started out trying to shoo them away but the reaction from the man being serviced was to swear at him and challenge him back -- and to back down completely would have been a lose of face... The person that first uttered obscenities was the foreigner -- so responding back in kind is warranted.
ross163103
Why do not they punish the Thai moron who insult the young farang in the video. Not hard to figure that one out.......he's Thai. Plus I don't think he actually committed an offense. I think the Irish guy was lucky the Thai guy and a bunch of his friends didn't get more aggressively involved. Were you never young, stupid, or drunk? They handed themselves in risking more public scrutiny and abuse, all due to a lapse in judgment no doubt under the influence of alcohol. No I do not think they should be deported nor banned from the Kingdom for the crime of being young, careless drunk and horny! The minimum is all they deserved and the lesson has most certainly been learned by the simple fact that they owned up and took responisbility. Indeed they have given a lesson to those who continually run away from their responsibilities.

I have though always been on my best behavior when visiting foreign countries because I believe guests should be on their best behavior. I don't consider a 2000 baht fine and being told to go home and never come back to be a "big punishment" for tourists.
