PHUKET: -- Police are searching for a drug suspect after he leapt from the back of a police pickup truck in front of Thalang Police Station while officers were delivering him there in the early hours of this morning (July 26).

Sakoo Police Inspector Lt Thanakarn Uchanarasamee received a call from the Thalang Police at 1:30am reporting that drug suspect Phinyo Chowyos, 30, had escaped custody.

Phinyo and his fellow drug suspect companion Nattapong Chaiamart, 23, both jumped out of the pickup truck after officers parked in front of Thalang Police Station, Lt Thanakarn explained.

“Officers managed to recapture Nattapong, but officers are still searching for Phinyo,” he added.

Sakoo Police arrested Phinyo and Nattapong yesterday after finding them in possession of an unspecified amount of methamphetamine (ya bah).

They were being transported with Theerayuth Manajit, 29, and Jarupong Limani, 24, who had been arrested for theft at Phuket International Airport. Lt Thanakarn did not specify what Theerayuth and Jarupong were accused of stealing.
