Brer Fox
And no one rang the newly created hotline for "building about to collapse"?
Seismic
Cannot tell too much from the picture, but it kinda looks like too much rebar and not enough Cement.
Reigntax
Not that fake imported bamboo scaffolding again. An all too often event in gagaland where engineering skills and application of them is either ignored or just unknown.
Reigntax
Cannot tell too much from the picture, but it kinda looks like too much rebar and not enough Cement. Yes and its hard to pour and finish concrete at those inclines and curves especially when it keeps falling through!
luudee
They love doing things "The Thai Way" and always look down on us when we try to tell them it will not work .... Mai pen rai, mai me pen-ha !!! luudee
nisakiman
Cannot tell too much from the picture, but it kinda looks like too much rebar and not enough Cement. Yes, it does rather look that way. And I always thought that one of the biggest problems with building in Thailand was skimping on the rebar, thus making the building structurally weak. elgordo38
Don't worry this contractor better do a runner. Isuzu no doubt has a battery of legal eagles ready to pounce that work on a recovery fee. The poor contractor could not have picked a client with more stature here. He will be the flavor of the month if they catch him the government will make sure of that. Edited July 27, 2016 by elgordo38

Somtamnication
Cannot tell too much from the picture, but it kinda looks like too much rebar and not enough Cement. Too much rebar and not enough brain cells.
MaiChai
Alot of 'issues' in Thailand can be attributed to the low standard of education. Better than Thai bashing?
kaorop
Looks like they were trying to copy the "birds nest" stadium in china. about the "13 injured" seems extremely lucky looking at it , hmmm going to ask how many more "didnt return from lunch"? no matter would only be migrant workers Edited July 27, 2016 by kaorop

ClutchClark
That is a significant amount of rebar. Wish we had a before collapse picture so we could have an idea why they chose this method. Amazing.

dopenhagen
the "funny" thing is that this could have happened everywhere in the world, but only in Thailand you have such a prevalent combination of arrogance and stupidity which makes things like this so predictable... harada
But on the bright side, you could probably build a couple of Isuzu pickups out of the scrap.
farcanell
On seeing the picture, my first thought was that there wasn't enough under form work support. Then a friend showed me some photos from his phone of said under form bracing, and I had to laugh... His pictures showed an alarming lack of cross bracing and support... On steel form work, not bamboo... So no surprises here (the highest risk is when the concrete is wet) that the lower form collapsed
