Violence in Deep South flares as referendum draws near

SONGKHLA: -- Four local authorities were injured in three separate bomb explosions in the deep south early today.

The first explosion happened in Sabayoi district of Songkhla at 7.30am while a group of border patrol policemen was on a routine patrol on the road.

As the team passed a factory, a roadside bomb was detonated, injuring two policemen.

The second incident happened in Krabang district of Yala. Two bombs exploded near Bannang da musjid, but there were no casualties.

The third explosion occurred in Khok Pho district of Pattani at 7.50am as a group of village volunteers was guarding a village school.

Two volunteers were injured.
