What is require for the Volunteer visa? / Applying possibly for Education visa, questions of where to go..

Hi

I am based outside Chiang Mai.

I have been back to Thailand for approximately 7 months now on a Multi entry visa.

My visa runs out soon.

That is my final 2 months I received from going to Mae Sai

crossing the boarder and coming back.

My understanding is I have no more time I can get on my visitors visa multi entry visa.

Is this correct or can I go in and out of the country and get a 3 month visa,

or an other alternative?

I was here in Thailand for a little over a year previous to this doing visitor visa runs which were mainly to Vientiane.

My last one was to Savanekhet before I chose to leave to go back to the country I use to live within.

I did this many months before my visa was due to expire.

My passport is full of Thai visa stamps now.

Id love to learn the language and stay longer.

I have found a school and teacher to do this with.

I can go ahead with this within this week.

Recently, a couple of friends suggested getting a volunteer visa instead,

as I am about to volunteer at a respectful of Elephants,

Elephant project where there is reforestation going on which I have extensive experience with.

I am open to other volunteer work.

I know little to nothing about what is required of me to do the volunteer visa application / process.

I would appreciate some factual details upon this process.

Thank you in advance.

One of the other four students for the Thai language course /Education visa just went to Vientiane today.

She was denied her Education visa, though she has already paid the school for it.

She reported there was quite a few visa applicants argueing with immigration officials today

and that things appeared to be quite tightening down, at least in Vientiane.

My next question then is...

If I decide upon the Education visa,

where is the best location to go to where I am the most likely to have success in receiving it?

Savanakhet? or?

Again I am in Northern Thailand outside Chiang Mai.

So, Ill be taking a bus, as a flight is too costly at this time.

Thank you all again for sharing your experience and insights.

If possible, speak to her and review the documents she attempted to use (supplied by the school after paying tuition), and find out what Vientiane said was missing.

Vientiane is generally one of the best places to get a visa, other than one's home-country consulate(s).  Some types of visas are only available from one's home-country consulate(s).  Policies vary by consulate - they all make up their own policies, and those policies change - often without notice.

If refused an ed-visa in Vientiane, one could apply for a Tourist Visa, if you have not received several from them already, in which case they would add a stamp to the last one about "next time" - which essentially means "no more from us."

I do not have info on the volunteer visa option, but look forward to others' replies on that topic.  It is an avenue I have considered, myself.
