Illegal Thai Border Crossings Closed

Featured Replies

All unofficial crossing points between Cambodia and Thailand in Banteay Meanchey province have now been closed on the orders of Interior Minister Sar Kheng, provincial officials confirmed yesterday. “Last month, Samdech Kralahorm Sar Kheng came to Banteay Meanchey province to have a meeting on illegal crossings and issued the order to close all such corridors because they are illegal and we have implemented the order of Samdech,” provincial governor Soun Bavor said yesterday.

“All corridors are now closed, except the official regional checkpoints Boeung Trakoun, Boeung Malai and the international checkpoint at Poipet.” The governor refuted claims made in local media over the weekend that the closures had been somehow related to the recent constitutional referendum in Thailand.

“It is not related to the referendum in Thailand. Everything coming through the corridor is illegal, including cross-border crime, migrant workers and illegal goods and we need to take action against it. The illegal corridors are now closed.”

ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français

ThaiVisa, it's also in French

Must have been some advantage to Thailand not to have closed them first?  :whistling:
