Man shot at ATM on Sihanouk Boulevard

A man was shot twice and left seriously injured as he was robbed while exiting an ATM on Phnom Penh’s Sihanouk Boulevard in the wee hours of yesterday morning, police said.

 

Boeung Keng Kang II commune police chief Chum Koy declined to identify the 19-year-old victim, but said that he had been shot once in the shoulder and once in the thigh, and had been sent to the ICU at Calmette hospital.

 

“There were two suspects driving a 2016 125cc Honda Dream bike, the same brand of bike as was robbed from the victim.”

This is why I only withdraw money during daytime and from an ATM inside a Mall / office building / large Bank branch (unless there is an emergency)

However the article does not seem to indicate he was robbed...? So perhaps another motive altogether.

 

Don 't know which he used but most of the ATMs on Sihanouk are outside of bans and have 24 hour guards.
