Siripon
Another possibility to consider is the bombs were a combination of southern separatists and the clique currently counting the desert sand. The separatists have the know how, and know the territory. The camel riders have the money. Both hate each other but my enemy's enemy is my friend, especially when i have my back against the wall or the sand dune.

There are actually rather a lot of groups out there, the 2006 bombings all had graffiti from an Afghan trained group, there clearly are outside connections to the separatists. It's the only way I can see that accounts for the timing (MOther's Day), and the odd location (Hua Hin) as well as bombs in the South. But I doubt anyone outside of the planning and execution circles really knows. And the police certainly have no clue at all. Winnie Payback... for Bike for Mom Day. A series of bomb attacks is hardly going to clear military control though, is it? More likely it gives them reason to remain in control due to this added level of danger. If it was the police then they must have given this about as much thought as you did.

TallGuyJohninBKK
The BKK Post has an article posted to their website today that talks who authorities believe is responsible for the bomb attacks. Can't link or quote here, but basically, it's quoting various police officials as saying the bombs were the work of disgruntled Thai political parties, NOT Southern insurgents. And that the scheme was headed by a "mastermind" and organized by "a network of politicians" who are against the current government. All code phrases for guess who? And then, separately, there a different article with PT spokesman Noppadon denying they had anything to do with the bombings, and threatening to sue anyone claiming that Thaksin was involved. Have no idea if the police claims have any credibility, considering the source. But that's what they're now saying publicly... Hmmm..... I have no idea why you think no one missed them, especially considering the press attention some of their family members received, perhaps you don't really follow the news and just make assumptions based on what you don't know about. As for your final comment, I don't think anyone thinks that half of Isaan are extremists just because they once chose a party that has an extremist element amongst its membership, perhaps you also think the same of the voters of the other party who also clearly had a murderous extremist element amongst their supporters? So if 800 (or whatever large number) are imprisoned on military bases - why did they forget Nattawut and Jatuporn?

NongKhaiKid
Too much to ask I know but as an old saying goes " say nothing 'till you know more. " Let's wait until arrests are made etc and as the official story unfolds we might get a flavour of the truth or otherwise and if the evidence produced isn't being confused with the actual facts.
