How to transfer money to foreign inmate in Klong Prem prison?

Featured Replies

Hello people,

My relative, who is a malaysian, is a prisoner serving time in Klong Prem Central Prison at Lat Yao.

We have no idea how to transfer money to him. We are unable to go to bangkok.

Any one knows of any possibilities to transfer money to him?

We can do the transfer only from either Malaysia or Singapore.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Ask the relevant Embassy.

It is difficult to do without visiting the prison.

Some info here: http://www.phaseloop.com/foreignprisoners/l-klongprem.html

Probably the only way is to do it via the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok.

Give the embassy a call and see if they can help.

The only thing I can think of is Red Cross. Maybe they can assist, or advise what action you might take.

Just a thought.

amnesty international?

Hi

The only ways are via the Embassy consular section or a personal visit to Klong prem where the prisoners card will be credited.

Forget the Red Cross etc. There unfortunately is no such service as they are afraid it would expand then to requesting parcels.books etc. to be sent in.

If they did you would then get other organizations attempting similar such as Red Crescent, Human rights charities etc. and they just won't stand for it with the inherent drugs problems and smuggled phones coming in that Klong Prem suffers.

There are various charities that donate but most donations tend to go to the prison hospital adjacent.

So. Its a visit or Embassy and if its cash they might even charge an admin fee.

Thank you for all of your kind replies. I really appreciate it. I have emailed the Malaysia Embassy in Bangkok today, hopefully there will be a reply soon.

What does he want to buy in prison?

basics like food and water I guess?

Pretty much anything I would guess. Food for a start. Don't call Amnesty International.  The authorities might just execute the guy.

Anyways....... Hope it works out well.
