Delayed visa issue at KL

Featured Replies

I applied for a SETV today at KL

This afternoon I received an email that while the visa is approved (confirmed by my phone call to them) their system is down and it will be available on Tue 23 instead of tomorrow Fri 19, imposing extra hotel nights and new flight ticket. Is anyone in the same situation?

When did you apply for it?

It was apparently on Thursday of this week since he wrote today.

Any other location would of sorted it out sooner. The only thing I can think of is that they could not print the visa sticker for some unknown reason. I have heard of a embassy or consulate having a problem and doing them by hand.

SETV as per my original post, visa was approved but 'system problems '.

Went back yesterday  (Fri pm), was invited to come back today (I know normally closed on Saturday) at 2.30 pm sharp, together with other applicants, after I explained the trouble/cost  this delay would cause.

I stayed calm and friendly and so did the consular staff.

Odd thing is other applicants who had a flight out yesterday evening got their visas (I talked to them, 4 cases, different kinds of visa).

Will post about outcome.

attached part of their email Thursday late pm to me

Success!

SETV received this Saturday (!) 2.30 pm local, unusual procedure but got it.

Great news, especially as KL has a pretty awful reputation of rejecting SETV applications. I wonder if you would mind giving details of your application (your nationality, previous tourist visas, documents asked for). Perhaps, the situation at KL is changing which would be great given the ease of traveling there.

EU

previously in this passport:

1 DETV, Vientiane and 2 SETV, Vientiane, all consecutive.

Requested documents (also on their website check list) are:

-signed checklist (received at embassy upon application) of and accompanied by:

-application form;

-passport pic (1);

- copy info page passport (and only that page; the one with the pic);

-prints of hotel bookings;

-print of flight in and out of TH;

-150 ringgit cash;

 no further documents asked but file has to be complete and neat.

I saw a girl exiting quite quickly when she declared not to know whether she would take a bus or a plane.

Dress regularly, stay cool.

The initially announced postponement was stressful.

 I applied after my friend did same successfully 3 weeks before.
