Teenager arrested for making false claims - Thai police warn public about identity theft

BANGKOK: -- The Patrol and Special Operation Division (Section3) has announced the arrest of a 19 year old Thai woman for making false claims.

The arrest is part of a nationwide crackdown on crime under the "191 You'll Never Walk Alone" initiative, reported Thairath.

The teenager - named only as "A" had set up an elaborate false page on Facebook called "Ooysmil" to help back up her claims that she had been the victim of theft and assault.

People were wrongly accused and warrants were issued based on her claims that others were part of a gang.

But police noticed irregularities in the teenager's claims and this ultimately led to her being arrested and charged.

The people she had accused had done nothing wrong and pictures of injuries she had suffered were fake.

She had used the fake name online of Natatcha Saiwaew. Her victims were customers who she had met online and who had bought goods from her.

Police warned members of the public to be careful about parting with personal information on social media.

What has a Brands gift basket got  to do with the arrest?:gigglem:

Do other police forces start making arrests based solely on a facebook page? It sounds like if any tiny little speck of intelligent investigation was performed before issuing arrest warrants, the only one would served would involve the stupid girl who started all the crap.

But all is okay now because she's kowtowing appropriately by bringing the big gift of chicken essence to the cops.  Very amusing country!

These young people have come up with more scams than there senior politicians.

As well they should, each generation learns from their elders, it's  a pity the elders are so corrupt.

It's to improve the cops thinking and analytical skills, and perhaps get them admission to Kings College.

At least, that's what their advertisement said.

...isn't that a booze slogan....???

Apparently to cut down on the overcrowding problem in Thai prisons an alternative form of punishment has been introduced where offenders are forced to drink a whole gift basket in one sitting. Anmesty International have declared it a cruel and unusual form of punishment and against all known norms of basic human rights.

Who do you suspect is doing any kowtowing? The woman with the gift basket? Or do you think the accused teenager, sitting down, arranged the basket as a gift to the police?

I like the blue board on the left depicting her crime and events in the investigation....it's so 60's :cheesy:

Stop taking the mickey, the BIB have done a good job, for once

It is an interesting shot - to use a pic of a 'young girl' handing a gift to the police with such a headline.

I doubt many people look to the part of the image with the microphones and I can only 'assume' the accused seated.

There is a distinct lack of pointing...so how do we know who is guilty of what? haha

Please buy the answers to Pokemon. Be first to complete the whole game. Be Thai Hero of Pokemon.

Special today, 245,678 baht.  I need money to pay the Nigerian Prince; who will give me 87 million.

This is good deal to be Pokemon Hero, or Pokemon Hub of Thailand.

Facebook

Gets me, how they find the time to trawl through Facebook for shit like this when the country has such serious issues in other areas that should be addressed with more scrutiny.

Must've been noticed in between the Dot to Dot page book fun play. Just before the obligatory siesta.

Afternoon :coffee1:

I'm heartened to read how easy it is for someone to snaffle your identity. I've been trying to get rid of mine for years.

kids get bored in Thailand and one gets this or
