Holiday Visa Question

Featured Replies

Hi

I have some questions regarding tourist visas. I have lived in Thailand for 7 years before (2005-2012)  on a ME ED visa while doing two degrees at a University. Now I'm going back on holiday and I dont know the rules and regulations concerning tourist visas except that I get 30 days on arrival.

I'm traveling from Norway to Thailand early November and staying for 29 days before I head to Singapore for 10 days visiting my dad, and then back to Thailand for another 28 days before I'm leaving back to home.

My question is:

"Is it ok for me to book a two way ticket from Norway to Thailand (with arrival early November and departure early January) even though my return ticket states that I'm going back later than the 30 days of initial tourist visa I will get on arrival?

If not: Would it be ok if I purchase a two way ticket to Singapore before I head down to Thailand so I can show the immigration officers (+check in counter in Norway) that Im going to Singapore within 30 days of my first stay and bringing with me a proof of purchase?"  Or is there another smart way to fix this?  I assume I can purchase one way tickets for all of my flights and there will be no problems but Its substantially! cheaper to purchase 2x 2 way tickets compared to the 4x 1 way ticket option.

I also remember being asked to show my thai Ed visa at the check in counter in Oslo whenever I left from Norway to Thailand before since I only had one way tickets or return tickets longer than 30 days from departure. So I might have a problem there? Anyone had any experiences with this before ?

hope someone can help me out :-)

Cheers

Immigration normally does not check for onward tickets out within 30 days.

The airline may ask for a return or onward ticket within 30 days of arrival. A confirmed flight to Singapore would take care of that problem.
