August 22, 201610 yr Hello Everyone. I am Canadian living in Bangkok and I need to get a Chinese (tourist) visa, but I don't know where to go or how to proceed as I have been told that the old Chinese foreign visa section next to the embassy has been moved and outsourced to another company, is this true?. Does anyone know how to apply for the new visa and all the information I will need?...I was also told by my neighbour that I have to make an appointment first before applying for the visa. Thanks for any information you can give or offer.
August 22, 201610 yr Start by getting the application from the Chinese embassy. There's a bit of paperwork you'll need.; copy of your Thai visa, plane tickets, itenerary etc. You have to go in the morning, afternoon are for picking up passports only. It's pretty straight forward process. Edited August 22, 201610 yr by Rob13

August 23, 201610 yr The Chinese contracted their visa application process some time ago, there was a thread on here about it at the time, they still process the visas though. You certainly don't get an application form from the embassy. All the details are contained on the Visa Application Centre website https://www.visaforchina.org/BKK_EN/ theoldgit
August 23, 201610 yr Does this apply to foriegners who want to visit Hong Kong also? I am supposing it does.
August 23, 201610 yr Depending on nationality, visas for short visits to Hong Kong are not normally required. http://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/services/visas/visit-transit/visit-visa-entry-permit.html#part2 theoldgit
August 23, 201610 yr Author To theoldgit I tried to use the e-mail address, but when I tried to connect to Bkk Thailand it would not go through or connect...any idea why it will not function properly?
August 23, 201610 yr Author To Rob 13 Thanks Rob 13. I will go to the old building next to the Chinese Embassy early tomorrow morning and see if I can pick up the application forms for the Chinese visa. It seems that my neighbour has given me wrong information or most likely I misunderstood what he was saying in Thai and as usual I got it wrong...LOL.
