100,000 baht reward for information about four bomb and arson suspects

 

 

SURAT THANI: -- Surat Thani provincial police have offered a 100,000 baht reward for anyone who can provide information about the shelters, regular eateries of other locations frequented by four suspects wanted for three bomb and arson attacks in the province during August 11-13.

 

Images of the four suspects wearing hats were caught by surveillance cameras at and near the scenes of the incidents.

 

Pol Maj-Gen Apichart Boonsrirote, commander of Surat Thani provincial police, summoned a meeting with a team of investigators assigned to probe bomb and arson attacks after the police had obtained information showing that the four suspects travelled from Hat Yai to Surat Thani in a passenger van on August 10 and returned on the same night.

 

Pol Maj-Gen Apichart said that police believed that the plotters of the attacks might have sent scout teams to survey the targets before sending the bombers and arsonists to plant the explosive and inflammatory devices.

 

Meanwhile, Pol Gen Srivara Rangseepromnakul, the deputy national police, has called a meeting with all the enquiry officers in charge of the cases of all the seven southern provinces in Nakhon Si Thammarat on Tuesday to follow up progress of the investigation – if there is any.

The police will be claiming that reward, of course. Unlike 99% of the rest of the world, where rewards are given to the public for useful information, in Thailand the proffered reward is given by the police to the police for useless - disinformation!

The tip about the bomber from the Erawan shrine was given by a local. The police got the reward though.

100,000 baht won't even pay for the lavishly draped table and decorated backdrop at the press conference where they award the reward to themselves for an unspecified job well done!

cops have destroyed the reward system by collecting previous rewards them selves. the monetary incentive to help is now gone. thainess involves staying out of everything  so your on your own now coppers.

the police are offering a reward of 100,000 baht, but only the police can collect,(after they have extracted the information out of some informant) stating they have made a breakthrough with there own hard work

Yes, I remember this - the police rewarding themselves when in fact the information was given to them by a member of the public. What a disgrace! As another poster has pointed out - the police have now destroyed the reward system, as no one will trust it anymore (if they ever did!).

They could be telling the truth. They will use the information to make the arrest and then be eligible for the "silver tray" award which is usually 1 million on upwards. Investing 100,000 to get a million seems pretty clever to me and the odds are in the BIB's favor. Cuts back on the legwork as well.

The Thai police 'telling the truth'???? That would be a first!

But you could be right. I always try to keep an open mind.
