casamarina
Sorry if this has been asked already. I want to know if its still possible to buy 5 cartons of cigarettes to take back to England for personal use. I did it last year at Don Muang by going to different shops buying one carton in each. Back then there did not seem to be a hi-tech computer system in place to check it a customer had bought duty free over their limit. As it happened, last year when I arrived in Heathrow I was stopped and my baggage was searched. They told me I had gone over my limit for cigarettes and not to do it next time, but was still allowed to keep the 5 cartons I took with me. I want to ask this because if its not possible now then I will buy 5 cartons in a shop in Bangkok before I go to the airport . Thanks in advance. endure
You can buy as many as you want at the airport. It's UK Customs who decide your duty-free allowance.
