BANGKOK: -- MahaNakhon, the 77-story skyscraper that is the newest holder of the title of ‘Thailand’s tallest building,’ will host a light show next week to celebrate its completion.

MahaNakhon, a mixed-use tower in Chong Nonsi, rises 314 meters into Bangkok’s sky. It has 77 floors and exceeds Baiyok II Tower, the formerly tallest building, by 10 meters.

The building, owned by PACE Development, labels itself as having a luxury design. It caters to a hotel, retail businesses, bars, restaurants, and the Ritz-Carlton Residences condominium.

It doesnt look completed.

Bit in the middle and top that need finishing

Who would have guessed that there would arise a post-apocalyptic architecture.

It always amazes me that these "tallest of" buildings always seem to be completed just when the host country economy is cratering ?

I see Thainess in its design.

Clever to create a facade to match the structural defects in the RC columns. Even the angle is perfect for a typical  concrete compression failure.

It's Thailand's tallest building without functioning sprinkler fire suppression system.  The previous tallest building without a functioning fire suppression sprinkler system was the Baiyok II Tower.

Only about four years behind schedule...

Original reports of they development stated it was to be completed by 2012.

Some renderings of the facade:

How many posters on TV are old enough to have watched the initial screening of the movie 'The Towering Inferno'?

Who wil be the first balcony jumper?

15 comments and about 12 are Negative....

That I guess is "Thaivisa-Ness"

It looks quiet wild (in a good way)!
