August 25, 20169 yr I was hoping to someone on Thai Visa has lived in the Mark Condo or knows anything about it. The full name is called The Mark Ratchada Airportlink and it's near Phra Ram 9 MRT. I saw a 1 bedroom place there I want to move into. The building is beautiful; gym and pool are magnificent. I am not sure about the location as the agent said it's difficult to get to by taxi. There also doesn't appear to be internet within the building which means I would need to pay for an independent connect. Any information or feedback anyone can offer about this place would be greatly appreciated.
August 26, 20169 yr It is exactly here: GPS: 13.754246,100.560849 Chaturathit Rdhttp://maps.google.com/maps?layer=c&panoid=u4-3XoAhjv1h_MtI3MHJsg&cbp=1%2C30.307652%2C%2C3.0%2C-19.702446 There is a pavement that is passable if you want to walk to the MRT or ARL.
August 26, 20169 yr That doesn't look like somewhere I would want to walk at night but maybe appearances are deceptive. And I wonder why rental and sale prices in that building are so much lower than the average of other buildings in the same area? Is it just that the averages include much nicer and posher buildings much closer to public transport? Feels odd to see lots of undeveloped land so near the centre of a big city.

If you get a unit at the front you have multi lane highways and expressways right in front of the complex. Constant traffic noise, traffic jams and exhaust fumes as close as legally possible.
August 26, 20169 yr Author I just moved in and I love it! The back entrance is the most commonly used which goes to Rama IX Rd, with a plethora of shops, markets, eateries etc. This is also the quickest way to Phra Ram 9 MRT. It is definitely an anomaly compared to other condos around. Next to the condo is a large plot of undeveloped land with some makeshift houses and a little village of people. I like it. I did not move back to Thailand to feel like I was still in a developed Western country. The gym, pool, sky garden and library take my breath away.

So are you saying the gym, pool, sky garden and library took your breath away because they are all super modern and first worldy, which is what you wanted to get away from . Or are they all 3rd world dumps which is what you moved to Thailand to be close too ?

I don't even know why I bother to stop by.
August 26, 20169 yr No neither do I. You point out that you wanted to get away from the feeling of being in a Western world. Then brag about the things that are Western world class. Rather strange to me, but I've no doubt some twisted logic is being applied somewhere along the line.

I totally understand you. I don't know why I keep coming here and reply to most of this stuff which is written by 'god knows who'. Unfortunately it is the only forum to get some sort of info on what is going on inside Thailand. If there was a better forum with less grumpy people I would leave in a heartbeat.

I can understand that, but there are some pretty expensive buildings on Sukumvit that have the constant traffic and the BTS to contend with also.

Agree, although some people would find the BTS more of a help than a hindrance. The thing with the Mark is that there are 20+ lanes of road including Expressway right outside the front of the complex. Bits of Sukhumvit (for example mid Sukhumvit) can also claim to be more prestigious in terms of location. I know if I had the choice I would prefer to live in Phrom Phong area as opposed to Din Daeng/Makkasan.
August 27, 20169 yr Just noticed the OP was after some information about this condo on Thursday and had moved in and knew all about the area by Friday. Selling/renting agent maybe ? Edited August 27, 20169 yr by berybert
August 27, 20169 yr let me guess Invogue, you want to leave also this country, thats why you try to sell your condo at the Mark?

I know if I had the choice I would prefer to live in Phrom Phong area as opposed to Din Daeng/Makkasan. I'm not saying that the BTS is not convenient to have nearby: it certainly is. But I would rather be on a side soi about a couple of hundred yards from a station than right on the BTS track. Makkasan is indeed a somewhat bleak and remote area, with a post-apocalyptic feel, but I see quite a lot of new buildings going up there that will probably improve it over time. I drove along Sukumvit around the Soi 50-55 area one evening recently and whilst there were some nice condo buildings there I noticed that nearly all the shops were shut by 8pm with hardly even a 7/11 to brighten the pavement up. That Mark condo does appear to be quite convenient for the expressway on/off ramp, which is a good thing for anyone who drives. Getting to and from Sukumvit in a car can be a nightmare. So it's swings and roundabouts.

You didn't have a clue where the place was Thursday night and you moved in 24 hours later. What size unit did you get, what's the condition like and how much per month please?

"The gym, pool, sky garden and library take my breath away." - lol So why didn't you move into some dump in the middle of nowhere with no 1st world facilities? Your post is a classic oxymoron.
