tomyumchai
Does anyone know the current requirements for exporting a 40+ year old car out of thailand? I dont need to be told to use the search function as what happened then has probably changed now. I dont need to be told its impossible to import a car as im trying to export one. If anyone has experience of exporting or can recommend a trustworthy agent ( cue the jokes ) please leave a comment below

Ronuk
You need to start with the import laws in the country you wish to export too. Not all countries allow vehicle imports from all countries. You also need to be certain that the vehicle can be registered for road use where your exporting too and not just allowed in for spare parts. Also check the import and VAT duty payable. Thanyaburi Mac
I once had my '71 VW Camper exported from Thailand to the U.S., just used the same shipping agent that handled by household effects, and, no, I don't remember who that agent was. Main concern was that it had to meet the US EPA regs and as it turned out it did, so no problem. A quickie Google come up with a good example of what's needed for the U.S., and there's probably similar for other countries: https://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-import-export/importing-car Mac
rapom
Do your research on both export and import. You will probably find there is not a car in Thailand that is worth all the paperwork and fees involved.
Ronuk
There are some classic American cars in Thailand. People would be surprised by just what is here. One collector I know has a mint Superbird amongst other Gems. Driving around the country you will often come across a 60's Mustang or 2.
bascat
I have exported a 2006 fortuner from thailand to Australia in 2013. Went into a container. No problems at all. Car needs to be deregistered in Thailand before shipment. Procedure was done with help of Mahdi motors in Lat Prao area in bkk. Contact mr junaid who is very helpful. Mahdi specialises in exporting Toyotas to south Asia and Africa and know what needs to be done. Registering the fortuner in Perth was a breeze as well. Will soon start a round Oz caravanning trip with it.
