Dermatologist in Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a dermatologist in bkk (reasonably priced)?

As an aside, does anyone know if my company AIA group health cover would cover the cost (or part) of it?

Thanks in advance.

You really need to provide more details as to what is required for both recommendation and insurance.

For example skin cancer treatment is something most out patient insurance would cover but not something many dermatologists here have much experience with.

Hi,

Sorry, you're right. My problem is that 4 fingernails on one of my hands fell out, and only one of them has grew back. I have ignored it for months now and there has been no improvement, so I think it's best I get it checked out.

I suggest either of the followong:

Dr. Parichart at St. Louis Hospital

Dr. Niyom at Bumrungrad.

the first will be less expensive than the seconf. Both are very competent. Dr. Parichart has a brisk no-nonsense manner which some people quite like but which puts off others.

Whether your insurance will vover this depends on what type of policy it is. Many only cover inpatient care which this will not require.

From what you describe, fungal infection might be responsible. If so you need to have your blood suhsr checked to rule out diabetesif it had not been done in the recent past.

Thanks Sheryl. I haven't had my blood sugar check before (unless they check this as part of the work permit check up), but both of my grandmothers suffer from diabetes, and one of my grandfathers did before he passed, so I am sure I am at risk of diabetes (my sweet tooth obviously doesn't help either...).

Thanks again for the advice.

Forgot to add, my health insurance covers OPD (I think), up to 1,500 per call/day

Well, if it covers OPD, it will cover this, up to that limit.

A consultation with Dr. Parichart will be under 1,500 inclusive of the hospital surcharge. http://www.saintlouis.or.th/index.php/component/doctor/index.php?option=com_doctor&task=searchEn  (select Dermatology and scroll through to her profile to get her schedule)

A consultation with Dr. Niyom may be a bit over i.e. around 1800 - 2,000.  https://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Niyom-Tantikun

Meds however may be costly.  Ask if what is prescribed is available without prescription and if so, buy it at a pharmacy.

Work permit physical will usually not have included blood sugar, those are focused on infectious diseases. What you need is a "fasting glucose" (taken after having not eaten anything for at least 6, preferrably 8, hours) and/or and Hb1AC.

Any hospital can do this.  At Saint Louis you can get a check-up package that also includes cholesterol, tests of liver and kidney function etc for 2,800 baht no appointment needed, just register on the ground floor to get a patient number and go to the check up center. Check your insurance coverage as it may include an annual check up (though typically the amounts are low).  Or, you can get the Hb1AC only done here for 500 baht http://www.medconsultasia.com/#!health-check-ups/cfe7
