webfact
TAT opens nominations for 11th Thailand Tourism Awards 2017 BANGKOK, 1 September 2016 (NNT) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is encouraging the public to submit nominations for the “11th Thailand Tourism Awards 2017” to be conferred on World Tourism Day, 27 September, next year. Deadline for the complete nominations is on 30 November, 2016. Details of the Awards and the nomination criteria were announced by TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn during a press conference at the TAT Head Office. It was attended by representatives of Siam Niramit and Nong Nooch Garden, TAT executive officials, the Judging Committee, tour operators and Thai tourism associations, among others. Mr. Yuthasak said: “The Awards are designed to raise industry standards and recognize companies and individuals which may have contributed to advancing a positive image of the Thai travel and tourism sector, now established as one of the country’s key socio-economic development pillars.” The Judging Committee consists of specialists and experts from various sectors related to tourism such as the Department of National Parks, Department of Fine Arts, Department of Pollution Control, Community-Based Tourism Institute, Thailand Tourism Council, Thai Hotels Association, Thai Spa Association, Association of Thai Travel Agents and Thai Eco-Tourism and Adventure Travel Association, among others. The judging criteria require applicants to show how they are helping conserve the country’s natural resources, mitigating climate change, contributing to economic and social development, practicing good governance and creating innovation. Mr. Yuthasak said: “Winning an award will become a competitive advantage. This will enhance consumer confidence and raise the Thailand brand image and tourism industry at large. It will also motivate the emerging generation of investors to maintain a concerted focus when it comes to developing their new business products.” In addition, the awardees will get marketing support through TAT public relations channels such as television, radio, printed media, online media and Or Sor Tor magazine. They also will have a chance to participate in TAT road shows and consumer trade fairs, both domestic and overseas, at concessional rates. The awardees will be given priority to join TAT product survey trips for media and tour operators. Their names will be prominently featured on a list of Award winners on the TAT website: www.tourismthailand.org/tourismawards. -- nnt 2016-09-
Plutojames88
I think the tourism minister deserves the award.....her efforts to reassure people things have returned to normal after wide spread bombings and arson in several tourists areas ...with no culprits caught. Her intuition that all will be normal and fine was to me moving .

I wonder if they'll just follow the lead of the RTP and give the reward to themselves?

I hate to disagree with both you and PlutoJ but...... Neither Auntie Popcorn nor Uncle Too (or indeed any other menbers of the Junta or appointed committees) have sought or would accept personal praise, recognition or reward for their selfless and tireless work in order to inprove Thailand. They will get their rewards in the next life. I do hope that is the case, however, the dramatic increase in flea ridden, mange covered Soi dogs at that time could be a little disconcerting to many. I have a tough time deciding who I like best Miss Kobakorn or the North Vietnam news lady. Both are good for a laugh.
