The controversial rule was imposed in reaction to models and beauty contestants taking and publishing naked photographs of themselves and posting them online. Critics strongly opposed the ban. Vu Khanh, chairman of the Vietnam Association of Photographers, criticized it, saying that the ban will cause many difficulties to artists. ‘Nudity is not encouraged in Vietnam, but it has never been banned,’ he said.
