Home-made salami from Australia to Thailand - legal?

Featured Replies

I'm flying Australia to BKK tomorrow and would love to bring a kilo or two of my salami as a gift for a customer there.

Is this allowed? I don't want to break any Thai quarantine rules.

Thanks forum.

I brought over a couple of kg of aged sirloin a few years ago, just packed it in a cooler bag with special ice blocks to keep it cold, worked a treat. Dont know if it was legal or not but they didnt stop me

As I've stated a few times previously ... you could bring a body through customs here ...  just don't declare it.

Recently I asked Qantas about bringing back some frozen meat, they directed me to Aussie customs dept. Aussie customs offered advice on how to pack it, dry ice weight limit & how to apply for necessary paperwork. So, I can't see it being illegal.

Hope this helps.

Stuff it down the front of your pants & walk proud......

Don't bother about the rules. Put it in the checked baggage carefully wrapped.

Many expats go on a yearly shopping tour home and come back with nothing than food in the suitcase.

Never, never read or heard a report somebody getting in trouble.

At least two times a year someone on holiday brings such goodie for me.

Alcohol and tobacco over the limits is an absolute no-no.
