MPs call for UK to halt arms sales to Saudi Arabia

LONDON: -- The UK should stop selling arms to Saudi Arabia while Saudi actions in neighbouring Yemen are investigated, a draft report by MPs has said.

The Committees on Arms Export Controls said it was highly likely that weapons had been used to violate international humanitarian and human rights laws.

The draft report has been seen by the BBC's Newsnight programme. The UK government said it had received assurances from Saudi Arabia but the committee said this was not sufficient.

Yes, and then France, Germany or the US will step in to supply.

Or Russia, China, Israel, Ukraine, etc....

To do this would be to slay the fatted calf. Arms dealers, central banks and crooked governments run the world with an iron fist. Buy munitions stocks always a good bet in good times or bad. Even better in bad times.

About time

So?

No! We need the money! Think of Brexit...

Stop selling to Saudi permanently !! Their human rights record is a joke especially when you consider they lead the UN Human Rights Council. Like letting the wolves take care of the sheep !!

No we don't. We'll have 350 million every week to spend soon. It's true, honest. I read it on the side of a bus.

Absolutely correct! Arms Sales are Big Business. The Saudi's buy a lot of arms. No way they want to lose there business. The UK Arms Sales is big in Saudi Arabia..

Selling arms is not new it has been done by almost all the countries that fabricate them including Canada they are still making new one so they have to get rid off the old inventory and who ever come with the better offer get the jackpot.

As long there will be war and people to kill there will be arms for sale.

War is the best money maker there is, when you supply both sides.

Nice high ideals but there's too much money involved.

Remember Tony Blair's ' national interests ' stance when he stopped the BAC corruption enquiry because the Saudis threatened to cancel a major contract  ?
