NARATHIWAT: -- Ban Taba school in Narathiwat’s Tak Bai district remains closed for the second day on Thursday as only 10 out of a total of 500 students showed up at the school following a deadly motorcycle bomb explosion in front of the school on Tuesday which left three people, including a 4-year old student, dead and seven injured.

Teachers and other officials, however, reported to work as normal but the low turnout of the students – only 10 out of a total of about 500 – has forced the school director, Mr Saravuth Yodrak, to order the school closed for the second running day.

Not a single student showed up on Wednesday.

Mr Saravuth gave moral support to the teachers and other staff members and said he would consult security officials about security rearrangements.

Teachers on Thursday discussed how to convince students to return to school. They decided that they would see their parents and would try to convince them to let their children to attend classes as usual.

I feel very sorry for people that live in this area where bombs are almost an everyday occurrence. How could you send your children to school and not worry the whole day until they returned in the evening ?
