Hi…this topic will have been covered many times but can't locate it sorry for the repetition….A couple of questions regarding my retirement visa if you could help I would greatly appreciate it.

Questions:

1.My retirement visa runs out on the 31st of January 2017, this is my first renewal so a little unsure if i need to renew by this date or is it like other visas when you get a 90 day report before that date you only have to renew at the end of those 90 days or does it definitely have to be before january 31st 2017?

2.My fixed rate bank account matures in a couple of days…Do i need to close this and open another account or can i let it roll over and continue for my retirement visa application requirements?

3.My final question because its my first retirement visa this is a bit strange to me ; yesterday i returned from the UK after visiting family for a month so had my re-entry visa (1st one) already prepared which i obtained from Jomtien a month or so before going. On passing through immigration i noticed they only stamped the date i came through immigration (8th sept) but no until stamp, i asked the lady to confirm and she said it was correct, but how do i know when i need to do my next 90 day reporting?

Thankyou all very much in advance for any help or information you can pass on…regards

1. You have to do your extension of stay application (it is not a visa) prior to January 31st. You can do it up to 30 days early.

The 90 day reports are not extensions and do not change your permit to stay date.

2. That is up to you. You just need to be sure you do not change accounts during the 3 months prior to doing your extension application.

3. You will  do your report 90 days from the date you entered the country including that date in the count. By my count that will be December 7th if you entered yesterday.

Are you  looking at the entry stamp on the departure card or the stamp in your passport. They don''t put a until date on departure cards. On the stamp in your passport it should show January 31st, 2017.

many thanks ubonjoe for your quick response….As regards to question 3..theres is next to my re-entry visa stamp: the entry date 8th of sept stamped and  31st of jan 2017 written in black biro and signature of the immigration officer rather than an actual stamp….is this ok/normal…. i mean in biro written?

On 2)

If you prefer: technically it is possible to just let it roll over/continue as a normal savings account (without extra interest).

On the other hand you have more than a month to decide about a new account.

thankyou khunBENQ…i will check out other deals in other accounts, like you say i have a few weeks to see….but it has to be fixed rate account is that correct in my way of thinking?….thanks again

No. It does not have to be fixed deposit account.

A savings or current account is fine.

A current account is usually not available to "retirees" (without work/work permit).

So a savings account is the norm.

Some immigrations might even be hesitant to accept a fixed deposit account.

Although it seems the very most will accept it,

I assume your wording "fixed rate account" is equiv. what the banks usually name "fixed deposit account".

Nothing wrong with the date being written in. The officer writes them rather than having to change a stamp to the correct day, month and year since it is not the normal 30, 60 and 90 day stamps they have ready to use..
