Recommendations for bloodwork and GP in CM?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend an English speaking clinic or doctor where I can have a general check-up + blood work done? I suspect a thyroid problem in particular, but I'd like them to test for all possibilities. I've heard good things about Srihpat Medical Center, but I'm not sure how it works. Do they have a GP/walk-in practice?

Also, can anyone advise on what I can expect to pay for these tests as well as a physical/check-up?

Many thanks for your help!

The only time I went to Sripat was to inquire about cardiac angioplasty prices. My Thai language teacher went with me and did 95% of the talking. If you do go there, take a Thai speaker / reader with you. It can be overwhelming.

As for general check-ups you might want to be a little more specific. There are different levels of 'check-ups'. Usually I deal with Chiang Mai Ram and you can write them an email and describe you problem in a general sense and the person will direct you to the right doctor(s).  I use chiangmairam at chiangmairam dot com. (Don't know if email address are acceptable on TVF) Ask for prices and the person responding will give some cost estimates.

You can do a bit of research on their website. Google Chiang Mai Ram. Ignore the 'website maintenance' warning by clicking through. You can search doctors etc.

Prices vary with speciality. The GP I used at Chiang Mai Ram was 400THB. One cardiologist was 500THB. One time I went in for a follow up and since nothing was done it was free.

Pretty much all the private hospitals offer "Health Screening" or "Health Check-up" packages and many of them have details on-line.  You can get a pretty comprehensive screening for less than 10,000 baht, or even less than 5,000 baht depending on the tests you want done.
