rooster59 Posted September 10, 2016 Share Posted September 10, 2016 Hat Yai railway station tightens security as Thai Muslim return homes to celebrate long weekend holidays HAT YAI:-- Thai Muslims across the country began travelling homes in the South today by trains and buses to celebrate the Eid al-Adha holidays The three day long holidays begin September 12-14 and is the public holiday in four southern provinces of Yala, Pattanu, Narathiwat and Satun where the Thai Muslims are the majority population. In Hat Yai railway station early today, it was flocked with Thai Muslims returning homes on board the first free train from Bangkok to Sungai Kolok. However, Hat Yai station is the last station as the rail line to the end destination at Sungai Kolok remained closed due to the recent bomb sabotage that killed a railway official. The line was closed for major repairs for 12 days. Repair works have completed yesterday but the opening of the rail service to Sungai Kolok will be resumed on Monday after the test run tomorrow with the first train from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Sungai Kolok.
