Advice on what dedicated Macro lens to go for

I am looking at buying a dedicated Macro lens but have no idea which way to go.

I believe you are a Sony user , DSLR ?

I would consider this as a starting point , not overly expensive , but does have a good following mate .

If you are a Sony DSLR/DSLT user, the one, true answer is the Minolta 200mm f4 APO Macro G.

 

Now, if you don't feel like dropping more than 60k THB on a lens, both the Sony/Minolta 100mm Macros and all verions of the Tamron 90mm Macros are pretty good. Personally, I went with a Tamrom 90mm because I found a new one for cheap and the Sony/Minolta is a pre-digital design, which I have generally found to have (correctable in PS) purple fringing.

I'd recommend the Tamron 90 too or the Tokina 100.

 

If you ever remember any of Goshawks macro shots they were from the Tamron.

 

All 3 (inc Sigma) are similar price, don't think you'd go wrong with any of them TBH

Which DSLR? Full frame or APS-C? 

 

The 100mm Canon F2.8 is a solid choice if you're a Canon user.
